Product Photography: Behind the Scenes

At CocktailCraftCo, we believe great products deserve to be showcased in the best possible way. High-quality product photos are essential to giving our customers an authentic feel of what they’re purchasing and to highlighting the craftsmanship of each item. Today, we’re sharing a behind-the-scenes look at how we shoot our product photos—starting from concept to post-production, using some of our favorite tools along the way.

1. Planning the Shot

Before we start setting up our camera, we carefully plan each shot. This involves considering the product's features, the mood we want to convey, and the overall aesthetic of CocktailCraftCo. Whether it's our Bartender Kits, Moscow Mule Mugs, or Engraved Glassware, we think about how best to highlight each product's design and functionality.

We aim to create images that showcase the product while conveying a premium feel. This planning includes decisions on lighting, background, and props.

2. Setting Up the Scene

Once we have a clear idea of the shot, it's time to set up. We always keep the following in mind:

  • Lighting: Soft, diffused light to avoid harsh shadows and bring out fine details.
  • Background: Simple backgrounds, like marble or wood, complement the product's elegance.
  • Props: We use props to enhance context. For example, a Moscow Mule Mug might be paired with a fresh lime or copper straws to create an inviting cocktail scene.

3. The Camera Gear

To capture high-quality images, we rely on both professional gear and portable lighting kits. Some of the equipment we use includes:

  • Canon EOS Rebel T7 DSLR Camera: Known for sharp, high-resolution photos with excellent color accuracy.
  • Portable Lighting Kit: Ideal for creating soft, even lighting wherever we shoot. We recommend the Portable Lighting Kit for Product Photography for beginners and pros alike.

4. Editing the Photos

After shooting, we move on to editing. We adjust colors, contrast, and sharpness using tools like Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop to make sure each image looks its best.

Editing helps us enhance the photo, ensuring the colors are accurate, shadows are lifted, and the image is ready for our website and social media. We also rely on a fantastic editing lightbox with backdrop to ensure consistent lighting for every shot.

5. Showcasing Our Moscow Mule Mugs

One of our most popular products, the 18oz Moscow Mule Mugs, is always a fan favorite. We want to make sure these mugs look their best in every shot, so we carefully stage them with ingredients and props that tell a story.

6. Review and Final Touches

Once the images are edited, we review them with a critical eye. Are the colors true to life? Does the photo reflect the product’s premium quality? If everything checks out, we prepare the final images for upload.

7. Sharing Our Work

Once we’re happy with the photos, they are shared across our website, social media channels, and marketing materials. Great photos allow our customers to feel confident in their purchase, and they help us tell the story of CocktailCraftCo.
